Madhubani for HIndustan Times

Did a very interesting assignment for Hindustan Times Brunch recently.
A series of Madhubani style illustrations for their cover story.

Made me realise how visually potent and vibrant the traditional Indian styles of art are and the endless possibilities they offer for visual storytelling.

in the press

...and when things are in the press they suddenly get validated and seem to bring you acceptance from quarters that would have otherwise treated everything you've done as a sort of inconsequential lunacy :)

Scintillation!

This has been one delirious roller coaster ride! 'Scintillation' - my first solo exhibition has given me moments, experiences and lessons too magical to believe but too important to forget. It's been grueling, exhausting, slimming :) and liberating all at once!

I wonder how boring it would've been if things weren't complicated...
As much as I (and all of us, I assume) dream about a seamless existence, it's the places where clarity is smudged that makes life relevant, worth the effort. A trek over easy terrain would be quite pointless...

Random stuff I happened to dig out of the closet....

Arambol!

Arambol is one of the finest beaches in Goa. With a fresh water lake within hundred yards of the surf washing in from the Arabian Sea, it is undoubtedly the most distinct! The fresh water lake is formed by a little rivulet running down the hill adjoining the beach. Halfway up this hill is a natural tub formed because of the evening out of the slope and is bracketed by the famous Multani Mitti. You can sit down in this little bathing pool, rub the Multani Mitti into a paste and wear possibly the oldest, most natural and (perhaps) the most effective face pack in the world!

Artists will love the idyllic setting of the Arambol marketplace along the ridge leading down to the beach. Very picturesque!
